Theme of year 2025: Unite to End TB: Awareness, Prevention & Action
Every year, March 24 is observed as World Tuberculosis (TB) Day to raise awareness about the global TB epidemic and efforts to eliminate it. TB is a preventable and curable disease, yet it remains one of the deadliest infectious diseases worldwide.
At LifeOnPlus, we are committed to promoting preventive healthcare, early detection, and access to essential medical services. This World TB Day, let’s pledge to take action in spreading awareness and ensuring timely intervention.
What is Tuberculosis (TB)?
TB is caused by the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria, which primarily affects the
lungs but can also impact other organs. It spreads through airborne particles when
an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks.
TB in Numbers:
TB kills over 1.5 million people annually, making it one of the leading causes of infectious disease deaths.
Over 10 million people fall ill with TB each year.
India has the highest TB burden, accounting for nearly one-fourth of global cases.
WHO aims to end TB by 2030 under the End TB Strategy.
